Mount Gerizim Missionary Baptist Church

One Lord. One Faith. One Baptism.

Pastor Clifford R. Riley

Love for life, love for family, and love for people are only a few ways to describe Rev. Clifford Ray Riley.  Most importantly, his love for God is what has compelled him to preach God's Word!

Rev. Riley was born on March 25, 1957 in Oak Hill, West Virginia to the late Alonzo & Evelyn Riley. He is the fifth of ten children (eight sisters and one brother). Rev. Riley is no stranger to the Christian way of life, for he was religiously educated in a Christian home and taught to always lean and depend on God.

Rev. Riley graduated from Collins High School in 1975 and immediately joined the work force as a miner in the coal mines of W. VA.  In August of 1978 Rev. Riley married Marsha Booker. They have been blessed with two sons; Gregory and Anthony, and five grandchildren; Jaeden, Jabari, Renaissance, Eric, and Sydney.

In 1979 Rev. Clifford Riley was appointed an ordained Deacon at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Carlisle, WV.  After receiving a higher calling from God to proclaim the Word, in September of 1984, Rev. Riley started his journey in the gospel ministry.

In 1985 he was appointed to a leadership role as pastor of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.  There, he held the position as leader of the flock from 1985 until his relocation to Columbus, Ohio in 1997. During his time at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Rev. Riley enrolled and completed his seminary studies at Hill top Baptist Convention Center.
After arriving in Columbus, Ohio, Rev. Riley quickly found a warm, inviting family environment at Mount Gerizim Missionary Baptist Church, which became his church home.  At Mount Gerizim Missionary Baptist Church, he has served faithfully as Associate Minister under the anointed ministry of Pastor Jack E. Watkins until his retirement on March 5, 2006 at which time Rev. Riley was appointed to the leadership role as senior pastor.

Rev. Riley is affectionately known by close friends and family as "Jim" - a nick name given at birth from the song "Jim Dandy" to the rescue."  Little was it known that he would indeed grow to be a true Rescuer.. A rescuer in helping to bring souls to Christ!
